Sensex climbs 330 pts, Nifty50 advances to 19,149; Reliance gains post Q2, auto stocks lose

After opening lower on weak global cues, domestic equities climbed higher, led by a rally in oil and gas stocks, such as Reliance Industries, BPCL and ONGC. BSE benchmark Sensex climbed 329.85 points, or 0.52 per cent to 64,112.65, while broader NSE Nifty50 gained 101.60 points, or 0.53 per cent to 19,148.85.
BPCL, Ultratech Cement, ONGC, Reliance Industries, SBI Life, Cipla, Adani Enterprises, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Grasim, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Mahindra Bank and IndusInd Bank were the top gainers today.
Reliance Industries gained over 2 per cent today, after the company reported a 27 per cent jump in its September quarter net profit.

On the flip side, stocks that lost the most were UPL, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Eicher Motors, Axis Bank, Britannia, M&M, NTPC, Dr Reddys, Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel and HCLTech.
Barring Nifty Midcap Select, Nifty Midcap 50 and Nifty Smallcap 50, all broader market indices closed in green. Nity 100 gained 0.45 per cent, Nifty 200 jumped 0.39 per cent, Nifty 500 gained 0.36 per cent, Nifty Largemidcap 250 rose 0.29 per cent, and Nifty Total Market jumped 0.36 per cent.
Sectorally, Nifty Realty gained 2.14 per cent, Nifty Oil & Gas jumped 1.34 per cent, Nifty Bank gained 0.60 per cent, Nifty Financial Services rose 0.60 per cent, and private bank index jumped 0.55 per cent.
On the flip side, Nifty Auto slipped 0.90 per cent, Nifty Consumer Durables fell 0.51 per cent, and Nifty FMCG dropped 0.42 per cent.
