Sensex slips over 200 pts, Nifty closes at 19,543; ITC weighs, Kotak Bank jumps

Domestic equities slumped for the third session straight in Friday’s trade as US bond yields soared to 5 per cent after US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s remarks. BSE benchmark Sensex slipped 231.62 points, or 0.35 per cent to 65,397.62, and broader NSE Nifty 50 fell to 82.05 points, or 0.42 per cent to 19,542.65.
Sectorally, only the Nifty private bank index closed in positive. Nifty Consumer Durables slipped 1.65 per cent, PSU Bank slipped 1.57 per cent, Nifty Oil & Gas fell 1.44 per cent, followed by metal at 1.33 per cent, FMCG at 1.32 per cent, and realty index at 1.08 per cent.
