Domestic equities climbed higher on Friday amid decline in oil prices globally, and led by a rally in pharma, healthcare, metal, and media stocks. BSE benchmark Sensex climbed 320.09 points, or 0.49 per cent to close the week at 65,828.41, while broader NSE Nifty50 jumped 113.50 points, or 0.58 per cent to 19,637.05.
In the intraday session, Sensex climbed 643.33 points, or 0.98 per cent to 66,151.65, and Nifty 50 touched an intraday high of 19,726.25, up 202 points, or 1 per cent.
Except for India Vix, which slumped over 11 per cent, all broader market indices ended on a positive note. Nifty Midcap 50 climbed 1.41 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 50 jumped 1.19 per cent, Nifty Midcap 100 rose 1.08 per cent, Nifty Next 50 gained 1.11 per cent, Nifty Midcap Select jumped 1.07 per cent, and Nifty Midcap 150 gained 1.02 per cent.

Sectorally, all indices, except Nifty IT that plunged 0.40 per cent, closed in green. Nifty Pharma gained 2.70 per cent, Nifty Healthcare jumped 2.62 per cent, Nifty media and metal indices gained 1.97 per cent each, Nifty Oil & Gas gained 1.19 per cent, Nifty Financial Services 25/50 rose 1 per cent, and and realty rose 0.81 per cent.
Hindalco soared 5.7 per cent, NTPC gained nearly 4 per cent, while Dr Reddy’s Labs, Divis Labs, Tata Motors, Hero MotoCorp, Apollo Hospitals, ONGC, Sun Pharma, Cipla, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, SBI, Bajaj Auto, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank, and ITC were also the top gainers in today’s session.
On the flip side, LTIMindtree, HCL Tech, Power Grid, Tech M, Infosys, Asian Paints, TCS, PowerGrid and Titan.
