Sensex, Nifty end flat after touching record highs; broader markets outperform, bank and metal stocks gain

Domestic equities ended nearly flat after hitting record highs during the opening session on Thursday. BSE benchmark Sensex gained 52.01 points, or 0.08 per cent to close at 67,519, while broader NSE Nifty 50 jumped 33.10 points, or 0.16 per cent to 20,103.10.
In the intraday session, Nifty 50 touched 20,153.60, and Sensex jumped to 67,735.79.
UPL, Hindalco, M&M, ONGC, Divis Lab, Eicher Motors, Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, Apollo Hospital, Nestle India, PowerGrid, BPCL, Bajaj Auto, and HCLTech were the top gainers in today’s session.

Asian Paints, HDFC Life, Coal India, Britannia, LTI Mindtree, Tata Consumer, ITC, Adani Ports, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Finserv, Hindustan Unilever, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, and Tata Motors were the top gainers today.
Broader markets outperformed key indices today, as Nifty Smallcap 100 gained 1.31 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 250 rose 1.22 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 50 jumped 1.18 per cent, Nifty Midcap 100 jumped 1.17 per cent, Nifty Midcap 50 rose 1.12 per cent, and Nifty Midcap Select gained 1.19 per cent.
Sectorally, Nifty PSU Bank gained 1.64 per cent, Nifty Metal jumped 1.49 per cent, the realty index jumped 1.39 per cent, the oil & gas sector rose 1.10 per cent, and Nifty Auto climbed 1.09 per cent. Meanwhile, media index slipped 0.40 per cent, consumer durables fell 0.17 per cent, and Nifty FMCG slipped 0.15 per cent.
