Domestic equities soared higher on Friday to close the week on a high note led by a rally in metal and auto stocks amid robust sales reports. BSE benchmark Sensex rallied 555.75 points, or 0.86 per cent to close at 65,387.16, while broader NSE Nifty50 gained 181.50 points, or 0.94 per cent to top 19,400, closing at 19,435.30.
Maruti Suzuki rallied over 3 per cent to close at Rs 10,332 on BSE after the automobile major reported its highest-ever monthly wholesales in August. In the intra-day trade, the shares of the company touched its 52-week high of Rs 10,390 apiece on the BSE and Rs 10,397.95 each on the NSE.
Other stocks that led the rally today were NTPC, JSW Steel, Jio Financial, ONGC, Tata Steel, PowerGrid, Coal India, Hindalco, IndusInd Bank, Tech Mahindra, and UPL.

Sectorally, only pharma and healthcare indices closed in red, as Nifty Metal gained 2.88 per cent, Nifty Auto soared 1.65 per cent, PSB index gained 1.60 per cent, Nifty Oil & Gas jumped 1.56 per cent, the IT index jumped 1.12 per cent, and Nifty Private Bank rose 0.96 per cent.
Barring India Vix, all broader market indices closed in green, as Nifty Smallcap 50 gained 1.61 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 100 rose 1.17 per cent, Nifty 100 jumped 0.93 per cent, Nifty 200 gained 0.91 per cent, and Nifty 500 climbed 0.89 per cent.
