With India now having a stable airline system led by IndiGo and the Air India group, the competitive intensity between the two primary players is set to rise and usher in a new era in the Indian aviation market from 2024, according to aviation consultancy firm CAPA India. The firm also expects the growth of Akasa Air and the potential revival of SpiceJet to add to the competitive dynamics in the domestic market.
“Competition between the two key airlines will be intense, across routes, regions and products, in a manner previously not seen in India. Importantly, both carriers have the balance sheets to support the anticipated growth and competitive intensity,” CAPA India said in a recent report.
