Domestic benchmark equity indices, Sensex and Nifty, opened at record highs on Monday after the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) thumping victory in the three Hindi heartland states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan raised optimism of a political stability in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In the Assembly results declared on Sunday, the BJP retained one state – Madhya Pradesh and ousted Congress in two states – Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. Congress got victory in Telangana.
