Infosys signs five-year AI deal with $2 billion target spend

Domestic equities rallied for the third session straight on Tuesday to touch record highs led by Infosys. BSE benchmark Sensex ended 205.21 points, or 0.31 per cent higher at 66,795.14, broader NSE Nifty50 closed 37.80 points, or 0.19 per cent higher at 19,749.25.
In today’s session, Sensex touched an intraday high of 67,007.02, while broader NSE Nifty50 touched 19,819.45.
Infosys jumped nearly 4 per cent after it signed a deal with an existing client to provide artificial intelligence (AI) and automation services that will span over five years, with a target spend estimated at $2 billion.

LTIMindtree fell almost 3 per cent after the IT services firm reported 4 per cent jump in its net profit of Rs 1,151 crore in the June quarter. The firm’s operational revenue for the quarter climbed 14 per cent to Rs 8,702 crore.
Infosys, Asian Paints, HCLTech, Reliance, ICICI Bank, NTPC, Wipro, Tata Consumer, Bajaj Auto and L&T were the top gainers in today’s session.
LTI MindTree, HDFC Life, SBI, Britannia, Titan, Bajaj Finance, Tata Motors, Sun Pharma, Apollo Hospitals, UltraTech Cement, Tata Steel, and Divis Lab were the top losers.
India Vix today climbed 3.49 per cent, while majority of the broader market indices ended in red. Nifty Smallcap 50 slipped 1.23 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 100 fell 0.94 per cent, and Nifty Next 50 plunged 0.43 per cent.

Sectorally, the Nifty IT jumped over 1 per cent, while only private bank and oil & gas sectors ended in green. Nifty Media crashed 1.84 per cent, while the realty sector slipped 0.85 per cent, metal index plunged 0.83 per cent.
