After opening lower, domestic equities settled higher, in positive territory on Wednesday led by gains in Infosys, M&M, L&T, and others. BSE benchmark Sensex settled 137.50 points, or 0.21 per cent higher at 65,539.42, while broader NSE Nifty50 gained 30.4 points, or 0.16 per cent to end the session at 19,465.
Infosys jumped around 2 per cent today after the IT giant signed a deal with Liberty Global worth $1.64 billion to build and scale the entertainment and connectivity platforms of the digital communications firm. Infosys said the agreement has an initial tenure of five years which can be extended to eight years, which would take the deal value to $2.5 billion.
