Maruti Suzuki reports highest-ever monthly sales in August; shares jump over 3%, touch 52-week high

Maruti Suzuki India on Friday reported its highest-ever monthly wholesales at 1,89,082 units in August, the auto major said in a regulatory filing. Maruti’s dispatches to dealers last month were 14 per cent higher against 1,65,173 units in August.
In a statement, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said, that total domestic passenger vehicle sales were at 1,56,114 units as against 1,34,166 units in the year-ago month.
Shares of Maruti Suzuki rallied around 3.50 per cent in the intraday session after the August sales report to touch its 52-week high of Rs 10,390 apiece on the BSE and Rs 10,397.95 each on the NSE. Its shares closed 3.24 per cent higher on BSE at Rs 10,331.80.

Sales of mini segment cars, comprising Alto and S-Presso, declined to 12,209 units last month from 22,162 units in August 2022, MSI stated.
The company said that the dispatch of compact cars, including Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis and Swift climbed to 72,451 units from 71,557 units in the year-ago period. Meanwhile, the sales of utility vehicles, consisting of Brezza, Grand Vitara, Jimny, Ertiga and XL6, jumped to 58,746 units in August as compared to 26,932 units in the last year periof.
MSI said its exports last month stood at 24,614 units as against 21,481 units in the same month last year.
