Personal data law: Safeguards to be brought when exemptions kick in

The Centre will introduce “detailed safeguards” for protection of personal data in rules issued subsequent to the data protection Act while operationalising exemptions for the government and its agencies, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Electronics and IT, has told The Indian Express.
This is the first official confirmation that the government will lay down the process and manner in which its agencies will be exempted from provisions of the Act.
