Sensex, Nifty trade flat; broader markets outshine, healthcare stocks jump

Domestic markets opened flat on a positive bias even as Asian stocks were trading lower. BSE benchmark Sensex opened at 65,671.60, up 43.46 points, while broader NSE Nifty50 started at 19,564.65, rising 35.85 points.
By 9.30 am, Sensex was trading 47.68 points, or 0.07 per cent higher at 65,675.82, while Nifty50 gained 21.05 points, or 0.11 per cent to 19,549.85.
Broader markets were outperforming the key indices in the opening trade, as Nifty Smallcap 100 gained 0.84 per cent, Nifty Midcap 100 jumped 0.80 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 250 rose 0.77 per cent, Nifty Midsmallcap 400 climbed 0.75 per cent, and Nifty Midcp 150 rose 0.74 per cent.

Sectorally, Nifty Healthcare Index jumped 1.10 per cent, Nifty Oil & Gas gained 1.00 per cent, the media sector gained 0.99 per cent, pharma jumped 0.93 per cent, and Nifty Consumer Durables rose 0.90 per cent. Sectors that slipped into red were Nifty Metal at 0.47 per cent, Nifty IT at 0.15 per cent, and financial services and bank indices at 0.04 per cent each.
Cipla was the top gainer in the Nifty index today, as the stock gained 2.39 per cent followed by Apollo Hospitals at 2.05 per cent. Other top gaining stocks in the morning trade were Coal India, Titan, Sun Pharma, ONGC, BPCL, L&T, Grasim, Cipla, Divis Lab, and ITC.
Stocks that lost the most in the morning trade were Hindalco, UltraTech Cement, Dr Reddys, Wipro, JSW Steel, Bharti Airtel, HCLTech, Infosys, NTPC, Britannia and HDFC Bank.
