Sensex slips 180 pts, Nifty falls to 19,387; JioFin’s losing streak continues, Reliance, L&T weigh

After opening higher, domestic equities slumped on Thursday as Sensex slipped 661.43 points from its day’s high to close at 65,252.34, down 180.96 points, or 0.28 per cent. Meanwhile, broader NSE Nifty50 fell 57.30 points, or 0.29 per cent to 19,386.70.
Broader markets were largely mixed as Nifty Midcap 50 gained 0.45 per cent, Nifty Midcap Select rose 0.30 per cent, and Nifty Midcap 150 rose 0.27 per cent. On the other hand, Nifty Smallcap 100 slipped 0.35 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 50 fell 0.32 per cent, and Nifty 100 tanked 0.20 per cent.
Sectorally, Nifty IT soared 0.61 per cent, Nifty FMCG slipped 0.29 per cent, and realty rose 0.20 per cent. On the other hand, sectors that saw the most losses were Nifty Healthcare Index at 0.78 per cent, Nifty PSU Bank at 0.65 per cent, the pharma sector slipped 0.58 per cent, and oil & gas index fell 0.56 per cent.

Jio Financial Services continued its downward rally for the fourth day straight and hit 5 per cent lower circuit. The stock was locked at Rs 213.45 in the lower circuit today.
Jio Financial Services, Reliance Industries, Divis Lab, Power Grid, ONGC, Hindalco, JSW Steel, Grasim, L&T, Bajaj Auto, Eicher Motors, Cipla and HCLTech were the top losers in today’s session.
On the other hand, BPCL, Asian Paints, IndusInd Bank, Infosys, Britannia, Adani Enterprises, UltraTech Cement, Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, ITC and Nestle India were the top gainers.
