Vaibhav Taneja, 45, was on Monday named as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Elon Musk-led Tesla, after the automotive and clean energy company’s previous finance chief Zachary Kirkhorn announced that he was stepping down.
Taneja, originally from India, is taking over the role, which is also called “Master of Coin”, in addition to his job as chief accounting officer.
Who is Vaibhav Taneja?
Currently the head of accounting, Taneja joined Tesla through a $2.6 billion deal for Solarcity in 2016.

Taneja has also been serving as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) since March 2019 and as the Corporate Controller since May 2018 at Tesla.
He also served as the Assistant Corporate Controller at Tesla between February 2017 and May 2018.
From March 2016, he served in various finance and accounting roles at SolarCity.
Before joining SolarCity in 2016, when Tesla bought the solar panel maker for $2.6 billion, Taneja worked at the ‘Big Four’ firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) for around 17 years.

Taneja has also worked in the technology, retail, and communication sectors. He graduated in commerce from the Delhi University.
